Works available through ALRY Publications
In 2002, the rights to the Bach “Prelude,” “Queen of Sheba,” “Three Nutcracker Suite Dances,” “Russian Medley,” and “Gloria Fantasie” were picked up by ALRY Publications in Charlotte, NC. I was delighted that Amy Rice Blumenthal’s group would be handling the works because of their reputation as the premier publisher of flute ensembles.
In 2006, “The Christmas Banquet, A Renaissance Collection,” was issued for flute quintet or flute choir. 2007 saw publication of “Christmas Night (and Day),” a duet for flutes with piano accompaniment.
2008 saw the publication of the first 5-Minute Masterpiece. “The Magic Flute (in 5 Minutes)” is a quick romp through Mozart’s “The Magic Flute.” One version is for flute and piano, the other for flute choir.
The holiday sequel to “Magic Flute” is a 5-minute version of the Nutcracker ballet, also in solo and flute choir versions, which was published last year. At the same time, to complete my exercise in impatience, ALRY issued “Semi”-ramide, a pint-sized arrangement of the Rossini overture.
Lastly, in 2010, ALRY brought out yet another short classic, “Pictures at an Exhibition (the 5 Minute Tour).” The National Flute Association named it a Finalist in its Newly Published Music Competition in 2011. Hooray!
The ALRY story will end in April 2012. What happens next to the pieces listed on this page is a mystery for the moment. No matter what happens, these arrangements will always be available, whether through another publisher or this website.

A word about the recordings: Except for the “Trepak” (one of the Three “Nutracker Suite” Dances), and the “Arrival of the Queen of Sheba,” all of the recordings consist of me playing all the flute parts. Do not take my performance as the ultimate authority. In fact, feel free to add ornamentation or experiment with tempos when the work seems to warrant it. I only have so much patience when I record, and not enough skill with Pro Tools to make a really professional job of it, so please regard these recordings only as a rough reference for performance.
