  1.   THE MAGIC FLUTE (IN 5 MINUTES) - NOW AVAILABLE FROM ALRY

  1.   FLUTE STYLINGS III - NOW AVAILABLE FROM HOPE PUBLISHING
NISH NEWS!
My goal in writing this piece was to create more than just a medley of Magic Flute tunes.  I wanted a work that could stand on its own even if the listener had never heard the opera.  I think it’s an absolute hoot.  And if the solo with piano is fun, just imagine how entertaining the flute choir version is!  Both are now available from ALRY Publications.  Click here for the solo version and here for the flute choir.
These three short pieces for flute choir will provide a whirlwind opening to your holiday concerts.  They’re all under two-and-a-half minutes long, and are quick, demanding, tuneful, and very relentless.  Your audiences won’t know what hit them.  Buy one or buy all three at a special price.  See the “Other Works for Sale” page for details.  Only available on this website!
  1.   THE CHRISTMAS OVERTURES - ONLY AVAILABLE FROM NISH MUSIC
Thanks to all who have performed Nish Music works at their concerts.  From Texas to Maryland, to Italy, Germany and the Netherlands, it’s terrific to be a small part of the international music community.  If you have any comments or questions about the music, please let me know!

Visitors to this website know that I’ve touted “Flute Stylings II” by Joel Raney for church use.  Now I’m pleased to announce the publication of the sequel, “Flute Stylings III.”  I do have a personal interest in this book since I served as unofficial editor of the flute parts, meaning I mulled over all the articulations.  The result is a beautiful addition to the sacred flute literature...more a tribute to Joel’s writing than to my mulling.  Go here to purchase and listen to the samples (I’m the flutist, by the way)
  1.   NATIONAL FLUTE CONVENTION IN KANSAS CITY
Loved bringing The Magic Flute (in 5 Minutes) to the NFA in August.  Thanks to those who purchased copies of the solo and flute choir versions.  It was great talking to you!
  1.   AND FINALLY...THANKS!
FALL, 2008
  1.    THE NUTCRACKER (IN 5 MINUTES) - AVAILABLE APRIL, 2009 FROM ALRY
The holiday follow-up to The Magic Flute (in 5 Minutes) will be issued by ALRY in the spring of 2009.  Instead of drawing on themes from the well-known suite, I’ve pulled tunes from the entire ballet, giving the work a fresh sound.  Click here for details about the flute and piano version, and here for the flute choir version.
  1.   SORRY, DIAL-UP USERS...
I’ve finally decided that everyone on this planet must be more technologically advanced than I am, so I’ve dropped the special links for dial-up users.
  1.   “SEMI”-RAMIDE - AVAILABLE APRIL, 2009 FROM ALRY
The problem with some Rossini overtures is that they seem to go on forever, particularly the overture to “Semiramide.”  But in order to bring this piece into the flute choir repetoire, I’ve chopped it in half, hence the name, “Semi”-ramide.  All the nice flute and piccolo solos have been retained.  Click here for a preview!
  1.   THE MIDNIGHT CLEAR - NOW AVAILABLE FROM HOPE PUBLISHING
For those of you who sing in church or school choirs, this lovely SATB arrangement by Joel Raney of “It Came Upon the Midnight Clear” would be perfect for any Christmas program.  As a further inducement, it also has optional flute, oboe (which can be played by a flute) and cello accompaniments.  Go here to purchase and listen to a recording.

  1.   FIRST OF THE FINALES - ONLY AVAILABLE FROM NISH MUSIC
If you’re looking for fun finger-movers to keep your group on their toes, try running through (what I hope) is the first in a series of classical symphony finales, transcribed for flute ensemble.  Look for the Mozart Finale from the Symphony in B-flat (K. 319) on the Other Works for Sale page.  You can’t take this one too fast.
