Challenging Music for Flute Ensembles by Judy Nishimura

Welcome to Nish Music!

Whether you’re a professional, student, or avid amateur flutist looking for challenging music for ensembles, I’m glad you’re here.  There’s no shortage of published flute choir music these days, but purchasing pieces based on short catalog descriptions and vague difficulty gradings will often result in disappointment.  The purpose of this website is to acquaint you with my compositions and arrangements by providing full recordings and a sample of the score.

What kind of music is Nish Music?  It’s very accessible, tuneful, difficult at times but not impossible, with enough going on in all the parts to keep anyone from getting bored. (I too hate getting stuck with the low part in Pachelbel’s Canon!)

You’ll find a section devoted to my published pieces, available from the good folks at ALRY Publications, plus a section featuring unpublished works which can be obtained in a downloadable form (PDF files) via email.  And check out the Nish News page for the latest in the world of Nish, and the Engraving section, for those who need a nice printed page of music but don’t want to invest hundreds of dollars in computer software and the hundreds of hours learning to use it.

Again, this music is, for the most part, challenging.  I’m sure professionals, college groups, adult flute choirs, and talented high school flutists will enjoy working these pieces up for performance.  So browse and enjoy!
